Four months later....

Time just got away from me I suppose since it's been four long months since my last blog.

Here's a recap:

Met with the R.E. who ordered bloodwork and an ultrasound but ultimately told me she wasn't capable of prescribing a medication for me until I saw an Endo. that specifically could pinpoint where my pituitary problems were coming from. Jim and I left for Europe and had a FANTASTIC time away, which was a nice little break from the home life. Secretly I had hoped to come home pregnant, obviously that was not the case. My ultrasound was normal and my bloodwork showed that my thyroid wasn't working property and that my hemoglobin and hematocrit levels were high. The Repr. doctor prescribed Synthroid for me and gave me a referral to the Endo. down the hall. For the RBC levels, I was to schedule an appt. with my Hematologist first to rule out any issues there. Thankfully those levels came back normal and there was no issue there. Next stop the Endo.

My first grievance with the Endo. was that I was referred to the attending physician, yet after four months I've yet to even talk to this doctor on the phone. Each time, its the resident....who can't answer my questions and has to confer with the attending physician. My question is...why don't I just talk to him myself? Wouldn't that save a lot of time? Anywho...the first meeting they suggested my childhood endo. diagnosed me incorrectly. Yet, every piece of paper still says that I'm panhypopit. which would mean all pituitary function for the most part didn't function...which is not entirely true. After a round a bloodwork with this office, it was found that my ACTH was elevated yet my cortisol was normal which perplexed all the doctors in teh office. An ACTH stimulation test was requested to find out if there was an adrenal insufficiency that needed treatment as well. Unfortunately, the ACTH tests were scheduled a month out so I wasn't able to even get an appointment until the week of Christmas.

Fast forward to the week of Christmas...and you see me with my head in a bucket profusely vomiting. Pregnant? Nope...Stomach flu! After a trip to urgent care and nearly being admitted to the E.R. for dehydration, I had to cancel my ACTH test. Of course...they couldn't get me in until end of January.

Fast forward to end of January. Jim and I sit at Northwestern for a few hours. The test comes back normal so I'm thinking "Hurray!" this is the end and they're finally going to give me a fertility drug! WRONG!!!  Apparently there are labs pending for my FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, and TSH. uRGH!

By now, I look like a pin cushion. There are bruises on my hands and arms and its not pretty at all. So..what am I going to do...I have to get the bloodwork done. I took one morning and went to Christ instead of going downtown and got the blood drawn. Those labs ALWAYS come back normal...ALWAYS...except now. Apparently the FSH and LH were slightly elevated compared to the estradiol. The resident told me that would make sense in a normal woman that was ovulating. Apparently she didnt take proper notes because my gyne has told me that I can ovulate just not consistant and not to a point that can be pinpointed. The resident still didn't believe that it was ovulation and insisted the blood be redrawn and possibly an MRI of the brain be done. Well...that was it. I couldn't hold in my frustration any longer. I let all my issues go and told her I'd be considering another doctor because every test lab or procedure comes back abnormal until its redone then its fine. It was costing us way to much money and we're already two months behind on our fertility plan. Apparently getting mean works...because she agreed to hold off on further tests...confer with my Repro. doc ...and decide between Clomid and an injectable medication.

She promised to get back to me no later than Wednesday....well its Wednesday so I'm hoping for a call today with a good outcome :)

Now comes the tough part. Being on a medication and trying....hoping for a quick conception, safe and healthy pregnancy , and healthy and very much wanted darling baby Payne :)
