16 week update....and what a week it's been

Last weekend when we left off, I didn't mention it but the Friday before my blood pressure was a little wonky when I stopped at Jewel to pick up the items for my freezer meal party. I watched it over the weekend and it seemed to be ok but we agreed that at work I'd have my cuff with me and I'd take my bp periodically to keep an eye on it. Well....both Monday and Tuesday my pressures were definitely higher at work but the systolic (top number) stayed in a normal range where the diastolic (bottom number) was elevated. We were a little concerned but those numbers were too out of range that it couldn't wait to talk to my MFM about this upcoming Tuesday.

However.... Wednesday at lunch when I took my bp both systolic and diastolic were not good. It was 134/98 which quite honestly is not too far off of the pressure that got me hospitalized with Jack last year. I called both the MFM (had to leave a message) and the OB's office. The nurse I got on the phone at the OB office told me I should go home and lay on my left side a few hours to see if that brought my reading down so that is just what I did. When I was on my way home, the nurse called back again and said she spoke to the OB about my concerns. He told her to reassure me that at least it's not the beginning of preeclampsia because its impossible for that to happen before 20 weeks. :::Face palm:::   Sooooo clearly they didn't really look at the chart much before making that call. I politely said thank you and hung up and knew I would need the MFM for this type of issue. They didn't call me back until almost 4pm which made me really nervous they wouldn't call back at all. However, the nurse had talked to my MFM and she said I did the right thing by going home and lying down and plus the pressures I had given them from me on the couch even further made my case. They gave me the list of things to look out for (Which I already know too well)... such as having shortness of breath, swelling, bad headaches or visual disturbances, and told me to go to the ER if any of them occurred. They said to take it easy and rest until my appointment on Tuesday and talk to the MFM about it. So since Wednesday afternoon I've been on a self induced bed rest and staying home from work until I can talk to the MFM about this.

My bp when I'm on the couch is fantastic... like 107/75 ish and around there. When I'm up and moving around the house it gets a little higher but still within my pregnancy range of 120s/80s. So...I'm not sure what the MFM will say on Tuesday but I'm really nervous about that appointment. Plus, I've been thinking a lot about Jack as we get closer to the milestones. He measured 2 weeks behind at his 19 week scan. Well, I'm 16 weeks today so is this when he stopped growing? Now I'm all afraid that the ultrasound on Tuesday will show that he's behind. I'm trying not to think that way, but sometimes its really tough not to.

Anywho, change of subject, I think I'm feeling baby move every once in a great while. The past 1-2 weeks I've been feeling little tickles but inside and when I scratch there the tickle doesn't go away. Then the other night, while I was laying on the couch in my self induced bed rest, I felt a "thump". Weeeeird.

Thats about all going on over here folks. We should find out boy/girl Tuesday but I wont be posting until we let our relatives know. For now, here is 16 week bump pic. Its weird how the bump looks different in two different mirrors, probably my hand on my belly hmph, so I'm posting both, LOL
