I like to have plans for things....it makes it easier to cope. My plan to cope with IVF #2 failing was to try and imagine different scenarios on proceeding. As previously mentioned, I came to terms with giving my RE a third cycle if she came up with a change of protocol. If the protocol was the same, then I'd go for a second opinion. However, after today's WTF phone call, the protocol was different and sounded great to me so I'm giving them another chance.
Before I'm allowed to cycle again, I need to have a Saline Ultrasound. Saline Ultrasound --More in Detail followed by an Endometrial Biopsy...both will need to be at least a month before my next cycle begins. Endometrial Biopsy --More in Detail . Both of these things, while unpleasant, I've read about online and was wondering/hoping would be done for me to make sure things are as they should be. No sense in trying to consistently hope for embryos to implant if the lining sucks, right?!
On the topic of my lining sucking, AF has given me this monstrous headache but besides spotting 3 days, nothing else. I had no cramps, and no full flow. Tomorrow, I'll have to trek downtown so my RE herself can do an ultrasound to see what's going on.
So....my new protocol. The stims will be the same....MDL twice a day, Follistim, Menopur (and of course my Lovenox) , but she will be adding in Saizen, a Growth Hormone, starting on day7 and continuing for 2-4 days. Apparently this is supposed to help the quality of the egg...considering I have already been on GH twice in my life, I'm really happy to hear she's putting me on it in conjunction with my IVF cycle. Also, she has recommended DHEA and CoQ10 supplements starting now along with my Prenatals. She said that the EPP would not be a good choice for me since it only helps improve quantity, not quality, which I've had no trouble producing eggs just not good quality ones. In addition, since I have bled through the progesterone suppositories twice, it's her recommendation to be on the PIO injections instead. A big ass shot. Oh boy.
At any rate, I'm pleased with this chance in protocol and I'm going to give it a whirl. Tomorrow I'm going to ask to schedule my Saline u/s and Biopsy and hopefully I can order my meds for IVF #3 within the month so they are covered, before the deductible and Max OOP kicks back in January.
Oh almost forgot, I asked about AH and PGD. She's going to talk to the Embryologist and see what his thoughts are and let me know. I hope they think it'll help....maybe not the PGD, but the AH I'd imagine would help for sure. But they're the professionals not me, haha.
